Direct and expressive, monotype joins the radiant qualities of prints
with the spontaneity of painting including the beauty of watercolor
washes. Monoprint allows for a permanent repeatable element combined
with one-of-a-kind effects. Explore the sequential possibilities
of monotype to develop your image conceptually and formally. Goodman
demonstrates her image-making methods with black and color printing
ink, ink modifiers, various drawing, painting and print tools, paper
handling, single-and multi-pass printing procedures, hand coloring,
chine colle and the development of "ghost" imagery through
successive printing states. If participants choose to work in monoprint,
drypoint a matrix form of printmaking will be explored
in combination with monotype. Line etching may be presented instead
if in demand. All techniques may not be covered in one session --
it will depend on class dynamics. Individual and group critique
as time allows. Additional
open lab time available by arrangement.
All
levels welcome.
The
latest waterbased inks will be used in the morning class.
